Senior Congress XI a Major Success

The Future Foundation’s eleventh annual Senior Congress held on Wednesday, February 4th at St. Max’s Church in Westlake Village drew a standing room only crowd to hear speakers on the topic, “Demystifying Senior Medical Concerns: What Every Senior Should Know, Part 2”.

The doors opened at 8:45 am and attendees had the opportunity to visit the exhibitors.

After welcoming remarks by Future Foundation Chair, Louis Celaya, and Senior Congress XI Chair, Carolyn Kopp, Dr. Lucia Dattoma, MD, Geriatrician, UCLA Health, began the program with a presentation on Senior Medical Concerns-Looking Forward.

Next Dr. Liliana Cohen, MD, with Los Robles Hospital spoke on “Brain Health-Aging, Illness and Injury” and then Dr. Ravi Davi, MD, Director of Cardiology, UCLA Health, presented information on “Beating Heart Disease-Yes You Can.” From Dr. Richard Drucker, MD, Kaiser Permanente, we learned about “Taking A Deep Breath.”

After a one hour break for lunch, we heard from Dr. Kaditam Reddy, MD, Medical Director, Stroke Department, Los Robles Hospital about “Striking Out Strokes-F.A.S.T.” The next topic, “Cancer Breakthroughs-Bench to Bedside 101” was presented by Dr. Michael Masterson, MD, UCLA Health.

We then heard from Dr. Cheryl Lambing, MD, Medical Director, Ventura County Health Care Agency, on “Pain Management-Achieving Balance in the New Millennium. The final speaker was Dr. Stanley Nelson, MD, Co-Director, UCLA Clinical Genomics Center, who spoke on “Genome Sequencing-How Do We Use It to Find the Causes of Disease?”.

Senior Congress was free to all attendees and would not have been possible without the support of premier sponsor UCLA Health and the 33 other sponsors. The Future Foundation is grateful to them all.
