MONEY 101 FOR SENIORS
Making It, Spending It, Saving It, and Giving It
The Conejo/Las Virgenes Future Foundation (CLVFF) will convene its ninth annual Senior Congress to be held Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, O’Riley Hall, 5801 Kanan Rd., Westlake Village, from 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The topic for this year’s Congress, Money 101 for Seniors – Making It, Spending It, Saving It and Giving It, deals with the many different aspects of money that are so important for a secure, productive and enjoyable senior life. Admission to the Congress is free, however seating is limited so advance reservations must be obtained by e-mailing email@example.com or calling CLVFF at 818-880-1054. A complimentary light lunch will be served.
While seniors are concerned about how long they will survive on the money they have, (pensions, Social Security, investments, etc.) they are not always knowledgeable enough to make all the right choices for the future. Presentations by 10 experts will help them understand the options for living within their means, effective options for employment, how to enjoy their income and keep their investments safe, and what they could ultimately do with their assets while they are alive and thereafter.
The Congress has been organized under the direction of Carolyn Kopp, CLVFF Trustee Emeritus and
former president and executive officer. She has an MS degree in Gerontology and also is a consultant for Coast Caregiver Resource Center that provides free support services for caregivers of persons with cognitive impairment.
This is one of a series of forums that the Future Foundation has presented for the benefit of various segments of the community, and it plans to continue such programs in the future.
A number of organizations and businesses that serve the senior community are sponsoring the event and will be present at booths where information and useful mementos will be distributed. The Title Sponsor is UCLA Health System. Major Sponsors are Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks, Thrivent Financial, Agoura Hills Senior Retreat, Grand Oaks Senior Living, Home Helpers Caregivers, OakView at University Village, Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Mortuary, Senior Helpers, and Silverado Senior Living.
