Last Tuesday evening, June 22, the Thousand Oaks City Council unanimously passed a motion that supports a Regional Art Museum on city owned property. The motion read: "Approve in concept a regional fine arts museum to be located generally in Downtown Thousand Oaks on City owned or provided land." Mayor Dennis Gillette indicated that it was important to support the motion so that a fund raising campaign for the Regional Art Museum could begin.
A Regional Art Museum is an initiative of the Conejo/Las Virgenes Future Foundation. A committee created by the Foundation and headed up by former Ventura County Supervisor, Frank Shillo, has been busy putting together architectural concepts and will soon launch a fund raising campaign.
